Post: VPD responds to weekend shooting incidents

Valley Police Chief Mike Reynolds issued a press release regarding weekend incidents, where on Sunday June 9th, of shots being fired into residences.



The first incident occurred between 1:00 AM and 1:30 AM in the 2200 block of US Highway 29. The homeowner, a 49-year-old female, was awoken when she was shot on the right side. Her 15-year-old son was also in the residence at the time but was unhurt. She was transported to EAMC Lanier and then later to Piedmont in Columbus. Her condition is currently unknown. Officers located numerous shell casings in front of the residence.
The second incident occurred in the 100 block of Bennett Street between 2:00 AM and 5:45 AM. The unoccupied home was struck by several bullets.

There were no witnesses to these incidents and no description of the attackers or any vehicles were given.
