We gather today to honor and celebrate the life of a remarkable man, Charles Wayne Eastridge, more affectionately known as Wayne, who peacefully passed away on July 30, 2024, at his Valley, Alabama residence. Wayne was a pillar of strength and kindness, born on September 11, 1944, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service, touching the lives of many in his 79 years.

A cherished father, Wayne is survived by his son Carey Wayne Eastridge and wife Michelle, daughters Carla Anthony and husband Kevin, and Melissa Faith Eastridge Blanks and husband David. Wayne’s joy was multiplied through his grandchildren—Kristen Eastridge, EveLyn Eastridge, Kelan Mooney, Elijah Mooney, Ashlyn Mooney, Maggie Mooney, Ally Blanks, and Anna Blanks—and his great-granddaughter, Nyomi Faith Holloway. His spirit lives on through his brother, David Eastridge, with wife Dottie, alongside numerous adored nieces and nephews. His companionship with special friend, Faye Kirby, brought him much happiness. Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Grace Eastridge, his parents, Walter and Ozie, and his brother, Melvin.

Wayne was a proud veteran, serving with honor and distinction in the United States Air Force as a KC-135 aircraft mechanic. His patriotism was unwavering, often expressing his readiness to serve his nation again. His post-military career was a testament to an unmatched work ethic at West Point Pepperell, renowned for his discipline, honesty, fairness, and generosity in all dealings.

He was a handyman par excellence, with the talent to repair anything that came his way. His most crowning achievement was building his family home from the ground up—a labor of love that served as a haven for his loved ones. Wayne’s first love was the Lord, followed closely by his unwavering dedication to his family, always ensuring they were his top priority.

Described best as handy, generous, and friendly, Wayne’s personality was a bright light in the lives of those around him. His passing is a profound loss, but his example as a devoted family man, a patriot, and a steadfast friend will continue to inspire.
