Lanett- On Monday the Lanett Council met in a called meeting from City Hall where they discussed and voted on a variety of topics on the agenda including the Authorization of Jet Fuel for the airport. The Lanett Council voted unanimously in support of the Resolution. <\/span><\/p>\n

“This will give us the opportunity to bid (within state law bid) and potentially purchase jet fuel at a lower price”, said Lanett Airport Manager Richard Carter. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Lanett Fire Chief Johnny Allen spoke on behalf of Carter to the Lanett Council regarding the importance of passing the Resolution.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

While on the subject of the airport, the City will have an Open House from the airport on Saturday. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

More Lanett news as the County passed a Resolution of accepting the bid from C&C Sanitation to become the city’s Sanitation provider. In January, the City of Valley announced that C&C Sanitation would be providing their service and the reviews have been extremely positive. The owners of C&C Sanitation were in attendance. The owners, who are brothers and sisters Dan. and Lisa Durden were in attendance and were obviously happy with the news. The Dardens told the Chambers Ledger that this year marks their 50th year in business<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Lanett Police Sergeant Kody Kent was recognized for his recent promotion as Public Information Officer and spoke to the council about the position and the transparency the police department is implementing through traditional means as well as social media. The Lanett Police Patrol Officer is a third-generation officer and has been on the force for five years. Kent also invited the Council to the upcoming “Breakfast with the Badge” from Tasty Donuts on March 28th, from 7:45 am- 9:00 am EST. <\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span>The meeting closed with the Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce introducing some of the Junior Ambassadors, who are students that live and go to school in the area. Council member Tamalita Autry complimented the students on their dedication to their school and the community. Afterward, Autry presented the Junior Ambassadors with a token of appreciation on behalf of the Lanett Council. <\/div>\n
