Yarbi has over 23 years of experience, having previously worked as a Juvenile Probation Officer with Lee County Family Court, a Legal Advocate &amp; Education Specialist for the Domestic Violence Intervention Center, and a Resource Worker for Chambers County Department of Human Resources (DHR). A majority of her career was with Lee County DHR serving as a Child Abuse and Neglect Investigator, Quality Assurance Coordinator, and Adult Protective Services Resource Supervisor.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background-color: white; border: 0px none; box-sizing: content-box; color: #383838; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 15.2px; margin: 0px 0px 1.4em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;\">\u201cYarbi brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and resources to this new program,\u201d says Opelika Police Chief Shane Healey. \u201cWith the increase of calls related to social services, we hope her role will allow us to better serve our citizens by connecting them with services that can truly help them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"background-color: white; border: 0px none; box-sizing: content-box; color: #383838; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 15.2px; margin: 0px 0px 1.4em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;\">Yarbi started at OPD at the beginning of November and quickly began working on building the department\u2019s new social work program. Her role will focus on assisting citizens who are in crisis that may not require law enforcement, connecting the community with resources and following up to ensure they are receiving the appropriate services.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"background-color: white; border: 0px none; box-sizing: content-box; color: #383838; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 15.2px; margin: 0px 0px 1.4em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;\">Yarbi states \u201cI am excited about this new position and look forward to working with our community partners to better serve the citizens of Opelika.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"background-color: white; border: 0px none; box-sizing: content-box; color: #383838; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 15.2px; margin: 0px 0px 1.4em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;\">Yarbi is originally from Thomasville, AL and is a 1995 graduate of Auburn University with a BA in Criminology.
