An arrest has been made in regard to the shooting that
\noccurred on June 30, 2024, here in West Point.<\/p>\n

David Landrell McCoy, 19, of Valley, Alabama has been
\narrested and charged with aggravated assault (O.C.G.A. 16-5-21) after further
\ninvestigation from our criminal investigations division. During the
\ninvestigation, it was determined that the vehicle used in the shooting incident
\nwas a red Chevrolet Cruze which was registered to the residential address of
\nMcCoy. A universal alert was provided to surrounding agencies which led to the
\nvehicle being stopped by a neighboring agency with McCoy driving the vehicle
\nalso. The vehicle had a bullet hole in the driver\u2019s side mirror, which was
\nconsistent with evidence that was collected at the initial crime scene. McCoy
\nalso had a glock 26 handgun in his possession at the time of his arrest which
\nwas collected by officers as evidence. McCoy was transported to Troup County
\nSheriff\u2019s Office without incident. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
