Russell Jerome Janney of LaGrange, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at the age of 64. Russell\u2019s life was a testimony of love for others and an unwavering commitment to faith and family.<\/span><\/p>\n

He was a devoted husband to his wife and best friend, Joy, with whom he shared 38 wonderful years of marriage. He was a loving father to his children, Amber (Josh) Hasty and Adam (Harmony) Janney. Being \u201cPapa\u201d was a role he cherished deeply, as he brought much joy, love, laughter, and fun to his grandchildren: Maddux Hasty, Aneliese Janney, and Lilliebelle Hasty. Russell was the pride of his parents, S.T. and Runell Janney, and an adored older brother to his sister, Jennifer (Gary) Thompson.<\/span><\/p>\n

Russell was a dedicated and accomplished employee of the Federal Aviation Administration from 1987 until his retirement as a Senior Advisor to the Deputy Director on Operations on October 31, 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n

Russell lived a life of ministry. He was currently serving as the pastor of Todd Christian Church in Valley, Alabama, leading his congregation in service and deeper relationship with the Lord.<\/span><\/p>\n

Funeral services for Russell will be held on Saturday, January 13th, 2023, at 2:30 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Johnson Memorial Gardens. Pastor Scott Whaley will officiate. Russell\u2019s family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.<\/span><\/p>\n

Flowers will be accepted or donations in memory of Russell can be sent to Cheryl Myers at the Christian Service Center, PO Box 227, Lanett, AL, 36863.<\/span><\/p>\n
